The classic VPN problem
Classic VPNs (OpenVPN, WireGuard) use characteristic traffic patterns that DPI systems recognize by protocol fingerprints and block.
How Reality works
Reality "borrows" the TLS certificate of a real public domain. Your traffic looks like a regular HTTPS connection to a legitimate website:
- The same TLS handshake as a real site
- No dedicated VPN IP
- SNI inspection sees a regular domain
Why it's effective
DPI systems compare traffic against known pattern databases. Reality creates no new pattern — it uses existing legitimate TLS. Distinguishing such traffic is nearly impossible.
Reality + VLESS
We use Reality with VLESS: minimal protocol header + perfect masking. This is our main protocol for strictly filtered networks.
